The Watermen, Synopsis

Return to Screenplays.

The lives of two men from vastly different worlds collide when they chance to meet one quiet afternoon at a secluded lake. Dutch,—-a small time drug runner, gets marked for death after he is found guilty of brutally murdering a member of his own gang. With orders from his boss to deliver a package of heroin to a secluded cabin in the woods, Dutch goes on the delivery unaware that he is walking into a trap.

On the way to his destination he encounters Ben,—-a university student, whose brief association with Dutch unwittingly involves him in circumstances he should never have been a witness to. As Dutch slowly realizes the danger that surrounds him, he and Ben are forced to take flight, as they struggle to elude a score of hired killers bent on hunting them down.

While trying to escape, Dutch becomes aware of the reasons behind the contract that has been placed upon his head. He slowly begins to understand how the connection was made that links him to the murder of his fallen associate. He had the motivation. He had the desire. And with witnesses coming forth and placing him at the crime scene, there seems little reason to doubt that he is the murderer.—- But is he?
